How does HoverMother work on my child's device?

HoverMother connects through Apple's native Family Controls framework (com.apple.developer.family-controls) and Screen Time APIs (ManagedSettings and DeviceActivity). When authorized by a parent or legal guardian, it enforces healthy app limits, downtime schedules, and native adult web content filtering. Detailed per-app activity is computed strictly on the child's device through Apple's private DeviceActivityReport framework — raw app names, browsing logs, messages, and calls never leave the device.

Does HoverMother access text messages, iMessages, calls, or photos?

No. HoverMother does not read, access, intercept, or store text messages, iMessages, DMs, phone calls, FaceTime logs, photos, videos, or camera rolls. Apple's Screen Time APIs do not provide access to private communications, and HoverMother does not seek it.

Does HoverMother listen to room audio or record microphones?

No. HoverMother never passively records, wiretaps, streams, or listens to ambient microphone audio. HoverMother is designed strictly for transparent digital wellbeing boundaries, never covert surveillance or stalkerware.

How does the MOTHER AI parenting assistant handle my data?

MOTHER AI is an educational assistant powered by Google Cloud Vertex AI (Gemini). It processes only text explicitly typed or dictated by the parent inside the parent dashboard. No child screen time metrics, personal identifiers, or location histories are ever sent to Google Cloud. Google acts as an enterprise data processor and does not use parent queries to train its foundation models.

Do I need to tell my child that HoverMother is active?

Yes. HoverMother is built on transparent, parent-approved digital wellness principles. Children are meant to know that parental controls are in use. HoverMother does not install Mobile Device Management (MDM) or hidden configuration profiles, and cannot be used for secret monitoring.

Is HoverMother available now?

HoverMother is currently in Stage 1 of its release roadmap: undergoing Apple Developer Program compliance review for the official Family Controls (com.apple.developer.family-controls) entitlement. Following internal sandbox device validation (Stage 2), we will open a private closed beta for pre-registered Tennessee parents (Stage 3). Parents can pre-register on our homepage or at hovermother.com.

How do I request deletion of my family's data?

Email privacy@hovermother.com with the subject line "Data Deletion Request" from your account email address. We will permanently delete your account and associated family profile records within thirty (30) days.
